Applications & Participation FAQs
-
You must 18+ and a current student enrolled in a UK or Irish university (either undergraduate or postgraduate).
You must be based in the UK or Ireland and be able to attend the iTwin4Good Final on the 30th of July in the event your project is selected as a finalist.
You need to be able to fly from the UK or Ireland in the event that your project is selected to participate in the Enactus World Cup in Bangkok on the 25th of September.
-
Applications are open until the 26th of May 2025, but places are filled on a rolling basis. Once the spaces are full, we’ll close applications, so early applications are encouraged.
-
You can apply solo or with friends.
If you’re applying as a team (maximum of 3 people), all members must be 18+ and currently enrolled as university students. Each person should submit an individual application.
If you’re applying as an individual and have coding experience, you’re welcome to work solo. However, if you don’t have a technical background, we recommend selecting the option to be placed in a team so we can match you with someone who does—this will be especially helpful during the prototype phase.
Prefer to work with others? During the application, you can choose to be matched into a team of up to 3 students.
-
No digital twin experience is required. We’ll give you all the tools, tutorials, and support you need to get started.
While it’s helpful to have a basic understanding of Java, Node.js, or TypeScript, it’s not required for everyone. If you’re not a coder, your background and ideas are still valuable—design, business, and storytelling all matter!
We encourage non-coders to opt to be allocated into a team, so we can pair you with teammates who have technical experience. This balance will be especially helpful during the prototype phase of the programme.
-
If you choose to be placed into a team, we’ll match you with up to two other students from the UK or Ireland. We’ll prioritise grouping you with students from your own university where possible. If that’s not an option, we’ll aim to place you with others nearby to make collaboration as easy as possible.
-
Absolutely! You don’t need to be studying STEM to take part. The iTwin4Good programme is open to students from all academic backgrounds—whether you’re in business, social sciences, design, arts, or anything in between.
We believe the best solutions come from diverse perspectives, and your unique insights, creativity, and lived experience are just as valuable as technical skills. If you don’t have coding experience, we recommend opting to be placed in a team so you can be matched with someone who does.

You’ll gain access to the Bentley iTwin Developer Associate Accreditation—a self-paced virtual course designed to give you a strong foundation in using the iTwin platform. The course takes around 4–5 hours to complete and finishes with a short multiple-choice quiz. Once completed, you’ll earn an official digital badge and certificate to showcase your skills.
You can complete the accreditation flexibly at your own pace, but it must be finished by 15 June to stay on track with the programme.
You’ll also be part of a dedicated Discord community, where Bentley developers will be available to support your project 1-on-1 with any technical questions. Plus, during Week 5, you’ll have the chance to connect directly with Bentley developers for hands-on guidance as you build your prototype.
-
Submissions will be reviewed, and finalists teams will be invited to pitch live at the in-person finals in London on the 30th of July.
The project awarded 1st place in London will recieve £1,000, while 2nd and 3rd place projects will each recieve £500. If you’re Irish, this will be converted to €.
The winning UK & Ireland team will then go on to compete against top teams from Brazil, Canada, Germany and the USA in a virtual ‘Global Champions of Champions’ finals on the 19th of August - with the ultimate prize being a trip to the Enactus World Cup in Bangkok, Thailand.
-
Yes! We strongly encourage you to keep developing your project beyond the programme.
Enactus UK & Ireland hosts several competitions throughout the academic year, giving you even more opportunities to showcase and scale your solution. In fact, last year’s iTwin Challenge winners went on to establish an Enactus society at their university and compete in the Enactus World Cup Qualifing finals—so who knows where your project could take you next!
