How To: Onboard a New Member

As you continue to promote your Enactus Team, you'll begin to recruit more and more students - GREAT NEWS! It is now important to consider how these new members successfully join the team, are given the right information and understand where they fit in.

The Onboarding Process

KNOWLEDGE: What materials do they need? Make sure they have access to learn what Enactus is and what your Team does. Do you have a Welcome Pack with this or an email with links to the key documents?

WELCOME PARTY: Do you have any orientation event in place to welcome the new members? This is a great opportunity to introduce them to the team and set the stage for the team culture.

COMMUNICATION: Make sure all members are included in team communication and set out designated 'office hours' where current members can be available to speak to in order to support new members.

MEETINGS: Build on their motivation to join the team and get those initial meetings booked in; this can be their first project meeting or general/ executive team meeting.

ACTIONS: What will they be doing? Ensure that project leaders are setting action items and empowering members to get involved in a task right away. If the project is at a standstill then set them with the challenge of researching new projects or starting a team initiative.
