“It’s an exciting time at XPO Logistics as they continue their sustained and continuous growth and expand into new sectors. As a result of this, they are (for the first time) looking for a graduate to join their Solutions Design team.
Solution Design is all about crafting tailored operational solutions for warehouse and transport operations. As a Solution Designer, you bridge the gap between what their customer’s requirements are and the resources they need to fulfil these needs, whether that’s drivers, forklift operators, robots, automation, vehicles, warehouse space, IT equipment or anything else! You’ll be analysing data, mapping processes and modelling data using both in-house and third-party software (don’t worry, XPO will provide any training on these tools as well) to understand the resources we need and then turning this into costed budgets.
You’ll collaborate with other solution design managers, operational experts and other internal and external stakeholders to create innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solutions. The role demands strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and an ability to understand business processes and emerging technologies.
It’s a dynamic and rewarding career for those who enjoy designing, optimizing, and future-proofing solutions that drive business success for their customers!
XPO’s Solutions Design team are an integral part of XPO and without them, their sites couldn’t operate correctly. As they grow, they need more people to join the team. They’re looking for students who are innovative, data driven and thinks outside the box. You’ll love solving a puzzle and making things more efficient through combining logic and innovation. At school and university, you’ll likely have enjoyed Maths, IT, data and analytics and will have strong skills in IT packages such as Excel.
To be their next Solutions expert, you’ll be provided with exciting and challenging operational placements and on the job training, with full support from your direct team, the Learning and Development team and your senior mentor. You’re guaranteed a job at the end of the programme and the programme is set up that you learn the fundamentals of how their business operates and then move into your Solution Design role.
In year one your role will be working as part of their operational teams, learning the day to day of logistics and how all their teams work together to bring their customers exceptional service. You’ll spend time in varied roles, across both Warehousing and Transport sites, whether dedicated XPO sites or on their varied customer sites, giving you exposure and an opportunity for learning which is unparalleled. You could be planning routes for our transport teams, planning labour requirements, managing inventory, mastering the understanding of Health & Safety or working to improve how the site is running or how the warehouse is laid out to work best.
In year two, you’ll be based in their carbon neutral head office in Crick, working alongside the Solutions Design team. Here you’ll begin to put your operational knowledge into practise and contribute to the projects your team is working on. In a nutshell, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved with lots of things, so we’re looking for graduates that are inquisitive, love learning and want to be part of something big!
What you will gain:
Visibility, exposure and experience working in the operation and directly with XPO’s customers.
Long lasting relationships and the advantage of working with a senior mentor.
Qualifications that will be essential to your role… As well as access to personalised upskilling, such as becoming a Mental Health First Aider.
Full access to our own learning management system, XPO University which will inspire your ongoing development
Please review each job opening carefully to ensure you meet any specific requirements listed for the role.
